Cycle to Paris... on a Beryl Bike
World record-holding stand-up paddleboarder and Dorset local, Dave Haze has just made it to Paris after a 250km / 33-hour carbon-neutral adventure, in temperatures of -4C... on a Beryl Bike. Similar to the capital's 'Boris bikes', these weigh in at 20kg each, with just three gears. He was raising money for mental health charity, Mind.

Strathpuffer 24
The Strathpuffer race is a gnarly 24h mountain bike race in the Contin Forest, on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. It's the world's only race of its kind in winter conditions, with 17 hours of darkness. The course is made up of 12.5km laps, and has a reputation for being one of the toughest MTB events in the world. With strong representation from Alpkit staff this year, the Betws-y-coed store put forward a mens' team of two and a womens' team of four, all fuelled by Firepot.
