How we source our ingredients

We believe that great tasting camping food starts with the best ingredients. That’s why we invested a lot of time developing relationships with our suppliers, many of whom we’ve worked with since the beginning.

Our vegetables come fresh from the market in Bristol, and our meat comes from Pyne’s of Somerset, who are known for their award-winning quality and high animal welfare standards. It’s not just the fresh ingredients though. Dry goods like herbs, spices and grains are sourced as responsibly as possible too.

Most importantly, you won’t find anything in our kitchen you wouldn’t find in your own. No artificial flavourings, no ultra-processed ingredients, no palm oil - just real food that allows our dehydrated meals to taste like proper home cooking when rehydrated outdoors.

Your questions answered:

Is dehydrated food healthy?

The process of drying food is not what determines whether a meal is healthy or not. Firepot's dehydrated meals are a healthy option because of our commitment to using all-natural ingredients and avoiding chemicals and artificial additives.

Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?

The Firepot range now offers 11 recipes for our vegan customers, and we have nine recipes which are gluten-free. In some cases we are able to adapt our recipes to suit other dietary requirements. For example, we have developed a keto range for previous customers, removed sugars and other ingredients, catered to FODMAP diets, and adjusted portion sizes. Please contact us if you wish to discuss any specific requirements.
