How we manage our impact

How we manage our impact

We’re a team of dedicated outdoor enthusiasts. We know the benefits of exploring our natural landscapes and want to protect them for future generations, and so we build that mindset into all our business decisions.

Local sourcing

We use locally grown ingredients wherever possible and source from west country suppliers, which keep our transport emissions low.

Our vegan range

We offer the widest range of plant-meals in the expedition food market, making sure they're so tasty and nutritious that it's not just customers with dietary needs who choose them, they're a real alternative.

Zero waste

We cook and dry everything in our Dorset kitchen, and we order our ingredients carefully so that we have next to no food waste. The vegetable peelings we have left over go straight into our compost heap for use in our team's gardens.

Recycling

Recycling is a big area of focus for us and we recycle all our incoming cardboard packaging from deliveries. Our standard yellow pouches are made from both plastic and aluminium and so can't be recycled by local councils, but we established our own scheme where you can return your empty pouches to us free of charge. Our partner then processes them and converts them into new products.

Compostable packaging

We also offer fully compostable pouches made from bio-based sources which are designed to break down completely within a year. They're not waterproof so you do need a pan to rehydrate your food, but we think these first-of-their-kind expedition food pouches are worth it.
